MOMO added another victory to its prestigious history last weekend during the first two rounds of the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge Sprint X Championship held at VIRginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia.

Prior to the race weekend, MOMO announced Safecraft’s involvement with MOMO NGT Motorsport for the five-weekend championship, with MOMO chairman and 2015 PWC GT AM runner-up Henrique Cisneros and Safecraft’s lead driver Tyler McQuarrie sharing driving duties.

“I’ve been racing pretty much everything on four wheels as part of the Race Everything campaign with Safecraft Safety Equipment, and I’m going back to my roots with a return to World Challenge competition this weekend,” said Tyler. “I’m very excited to be partnering with Henrique Cisneros in the MOMO Ferrari 458 GT3 and can’t think of a better group of people to make that return with than MOMO NGT Motorsport.”

The first SprintX race on Saturday proved to be dramatic for the duo in their Ferrari 458 GT3 racecar. After an impressive pole position, the lead was lost when a seatbelt malfunction created a delay during the driver change meaning the duo had to settle for second. With lessons learned and steps taken to prevent a repeat, both Henrique and Tyler were ready to dominate the second race the next day.

The second race saw Henrique and Tyler put in a thrilling drive from pole to finish on the top step of the podium – beating the winners of the first race, Aston Martin GT3 driven by Kris Wilson and Drew Regitz by five seconds.

“What an incredible way to start the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge SprintX season,” enthused Henrique. “The 458 GT3 still has some winning left to do, and I think we demonstrated that today. Plus, it’s always great racing at VIR – it’s high speed turns and fantastic elevation changes always makes for an exciting race weekend, and this was no different. Of course, sharing this victory with Tyler is the cherry on top.”
