Like so many modified car stories before it, this one starts with a young gearhead, Hot Wheels and a budding interest in modified cars. The legendary diecast toys might have ignited the motorsports flame inside Alex Link (@lewd.wrx), the owner of this Subaru WRX, but it was growing up behind a racetrack and the countless hours spent watching Initial D that solidified him as the automotive enthusiasts he is today.
“After owning a Saleen S281 Mustang and then a modified Nissan Altima with 330hp, I decided I wanted a proper driver’s car; a manual transmission was a must and it had to be both AWD and a sedan too,” Alex said.
As you already know, the list of driver’s cars that have four doors and a manual is oh so short, so it only made sense that Alex ended up with a venerable VAF WRX.
“I immediately added coilovers, exhaust and 18×9.5” anthracite MOMO Catania wheels with a +35 offset,” he said.
Since detailing and car culture top Alex’s list of things to do with his WRX, as you’d guess, he’s one for the details. When it came time to selecting the right wheels for his ride, he wouldn’t settle for anything short of the perfect fit.
“Having owned a Subaru for a while, I felt like everyone puts the same three sets of wheels on their cars. I wanted something different, something with heritage and from a well-known brand. The Catanias flowed with the body lines perfectly, so I realized I’d found the ideal wheel,” Alex said.
The MOMO Catania features a classic mesh design inspired by our motorsports past with a recessed drop center and a multidimensional design that works perfectly for any desired offset or dish. Part of the RF Series, they sport an engineered inner barrel to clear big brakes and come in 18” and 19” diameters with various widths ranging from 8.5” to 12”—an array of different bolt patterns, offsets, backspacing and finishes are available.
If you need help selecting the right Catania size or offset, feel free to reach out to the MOMO sales team, who can help provide you with the necessary information to get the best fitment for your vehicle.
